Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, which when translated means “the Science of life”. There are numerous courses taught in Ayurveda which covers all the therapies and practices to treat the patients seeking Ayurvedic treatment for mental and physical haul. The Ayurveda course includes the comprehensive study of the history of Ayurveda and its relevance in modern times. Ayurveda helps in preventing and curing any kind of illness by eliminating their root cause. In Ayurveda course practitioners learn about eight ways of diagnosing illness and a way of channelising the five senses to diagnose the root cause. The Ayurveda course includes various plant based treatments and how they are derived from leaves, roots, barks, seeds and fruits. One can take Ayurveda courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Ayurvedic

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Program- Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
  • Students must have passed 10+2 level or equivalent examinations along with the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from recognized board/institution.

  • Aspirant must have completed the age requirement as prescribed by various universities offering undergraduate program

  • Candidate must score a minimum of 50% in 10+2 level

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Programs- M.S in Ayurveda
  • Candidates who have passed BAMS course along with 6 months or 1 year house job can apply. House job refers to the clinical experience under supervision before one starts his/her own practice as a physician.

  • Also, students who have passed the MBBS course recognized by the Medical Council of India can also apply. 

Scope of Ayurvedic Course

On completing ayurveda course, many ayurveda clinics demand for good ayurveda doctors who are good at administering steam therapies, oil messaging, meditation and exercise. Also, after completing ayurveda course one can opt for teaching Ayurveda subjects in colleges. Many can opt to start their private practice or get hired to pharma companies. 1 Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery(BAMS ) 5.5 years (including 12 months mandatory internship) Candidates are required to pass Class 12 or equivalent examination with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and English core in both Class 11 and 12 from a recognised board.

1 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Rasashastra - MDA (Rasashastra ) 3 years B.D Ayurveda or Equivalent
2 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Kayachikitsa - MDA (Kaya Chikitsa ) 2 years (in case of recognized diploma in the same speciality), 3 years (otherwise) MBBS completed from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India.
3 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga - MDA (Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga ) 3 years The candidate should have a BAMS Degree from a recognized university.
4 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Dravyaguna - MDA (Dravyaguna ) 3 years Should have passed B.A.M.S. degree from a university recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine.
5 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Kaumarabhritya - MDA (Kaumarabhritya ) 3 years The candidate should have a BAMS Degree from a recognized university.
6 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Shalya Tantra - MDA (Shalya Tantra ) 3 years The candidate should have a BAMS Degree from a recognized university.
7 Doctor of Medicine - Ayurveda - Panchakarma - MDA (Panchakarma ) 3 years The candidate should have a BAMS Degree from a recognized university.
8 Doctor of Medicine - Homeo - Materia Medica - MDH (Materia Medica) 3 years Candidates who should have passed the B.H.M.S degree from a recognized university shall be eligible for the course.
9 Doctor of Medicine - Homeopathic Philosophy - MD (Organon of Medicine ) 3 years The candidate should have a BAMS Degree from a recognized university.
10 Doctor of Medicine - Homeo - Repertory - MD (Repertory ) 3 years Candidates should have passed the B.H.M.S degree from a recognized university.
11 Doctor of Medicine - Homeo - Homeopathic Pharmacy - MD (Homoeopathic Pharmacy ) 3 years Candidates who should have passed the B.H.M.S degree from a recognized university shall be eligible for the course.
12 Doctor of Medicine - UNANI - MDU 3 years The candidate must have MBBS Degree from a well-reputed college and university
